As a property owner in Dallas County, you should be aware of the following requirements. Value Notification: The Dallas County Assessor determines property values and provides notification to property owners. Please contact the Assessor's Office for the latest valuation information on your property. New Ownership: If you are a new owner of a property, contact the Treasurer's Office at Mortgages: If your mortgage company is responsible for payment of your tax, contact them to confirm they have the correct tax information for your property.

Late Interest: Failure to receive a tax statement is not a defense to the payment of the tax and any late interest that has accrued. Iowa law requires the Treasurer to assess late interest on all delinquent payments at the rate of 1. The U. Postal Service postmark is the only date recognized for date of mailing. If you choose to mail your payment, please mail it early and use the envelope that is provided with your vehicle statement.

Please inspect your statements to verify that mailing address, vehicles and legal descriptions are correct. All tax statements are due upon receipt and become delinquent after December 31st. To avoid penalty and interest, be sure your payment is postmarked no later than December 31st. Check with your local post office for hours of operation and mail pick up schedule. Payments postmarked after December 31st will be returned unprocessed unless penalty and interest are included.
