Very diverse community even though that was caused mostly by gentrification. Overall wonderful food and coffee shops walking and driving distance. My small family loves living here. I feel bad for dogs here, especially the larger breeds.

Not a lot of dedicated dog parks, though. Visitor 1y ago. Echo park lake is somewhat clean. Everyone in the area is kind and neighborly. Elysian park is nice to be able to let them off leash for a bit. It is loud and dirty. It is now also expensive.
Everyone has a dog in the area of echo park!! Young, hipster hotspots on Sunset, and tons of families with young kids in the hills in Elysian Heights. Resident 2y ago. The Metro station is not far, about 2 miles or less. Watch out for dog's poops. Some dog owners are not very responsible. Once in awhile, homeless people would litter the sidewalk with their garbage.
If you would like to live in a dirty neighborhood with expensive rent and Dodgers traffic, this is the place for you. It's a hipster town. Lassens is expensive , salad bar is ok. Bk on sunset is cheaper than bk on Glendale blvd". Lots of families walking and tons of trails. Lively and safe. Walk to restaurants. Uber is within minutes. Echo park is great to walk or jog. I love living in echo park because I feel in a small village.

Buses abound but it is hard to get to train stop. Traffic revolves around dodger stadium games. Easy access to public transportation. Parking can be challenging on street sweeping days and during Dodger games.

The class sizes are small, the campus is roomy, Mr. Garza is an ambitious and energetic leader. The teachers are encouraging and always available to talk with.
The parent groups are active and strong. The school is very family oriented and a positive present within the community.
I couldn't say more good things about Elysian Heights! Parent Review 2y ago. Thomas Starr King Middle School. The 2 years that we sent there it went from bad to worse. Their needs are not being met. Now everyone know that no matter what happens they can not be held back and must be promoted to the next grade. Ends up being a waste of time.
