The crafted art piece features an actual toy train continuously circling about a Swiss village just outside the windows, a moving diorama of sorts.
A miniature train set is on display outside the back windows of the Matterhorn restaurant in San Francisco on Sept. Horwath, in all of her fondue research since arriving stateside, has landed on her preferred recipe that she now serves at the Matterhorn since their reopening in September She only had six months to serve customers her fondue recipes and treats from her addition of a bakery side of the business before the COVID shelter-in-place order started in March For an extra option, the Matterhorn also rented fondue equipment for those who really missed the fondue options the restaurant offered, before eventually reopening to indoor customers in February But Horwath has overcome a lot in the past year, beyond the pandemic.
While working through the pandemic with a small kitchen team, Horwath encountered a severe amount of back pain. Grab your besties and celebrate friendship with our Best Fondue Friends Forever menu.

He loves food. I do wish that you might have a cooking fondue. Maybe to cook beef, or chicken, that would be yummy. Plus, a blender for mixed drinks. Not everyone wants alcoholic beverages. I would have loved to have a non-alcohol pina colada, especially with the fresh pineapple blended in.
The food was very tasty, but the servings are very small. Be aware on ordering multiple dishes, and though the fondue says that it serves 2 people, it really only serves 1. Great service from the owners, very personal. Fantastic fondue!! The give you a variety of food items to dip in the cheeses. The savory fondue was full of flavor and filling enough that we didn't even want to try dessert because the savory fondues and eclectic selection of cheeses was all we wanted.
Definitely worth dining at and it's not that far from BART so that's always a bonus. Enjoyed our delicious dinner at Fondue Cowboy. Mix of items for dipping were fresh and tasty. Fondue was excellent with good flavor. Our server was fantastic!
He was extremely helpful in explaining the menu and helping us, as we had never had fondue before. Very attentive and friendly! Everything was great. The food was great, dessert was on point, and the service was good. Best restaurant we have been to on our stay in San Francisco.
Would recommend giving it a try! I love going to Fondue Cowboy. This was my second experience there. The food is wonderful and delicious, however the service really stands out. We got great recommendations on food and wine and a very attentive staff. I have gone there for a date night or a girls night and it worked out for both.
Highly recommend if you are looking for something cozy and fun. Went with 2 friends for dinner. I wouldn't really call this a good dinner place but more of a place to grab apps or quick bite. Fondue was good but a little odd. The accoutrements that came with the fondue: olives, pickles, melon, broccoli They also brought bread chunks and potatoes. It was ok but just odd. Cheese covered pickles? Everything is better with cheese but this was kind of pushing it.
Be warned that there is only beer and wine. They do have wine based cocktails. I was skeptical but they turned out to be good. However, the server kept comparing them to the actual "hard stuff".
They were good but wine just doesn't taste like tequila or rum. Our server was fantastic. Really personable and attentive but not overly intrusive. It was a fun little place but just need to come in with the right expectations.
Don't let the neighborhood scare you off this is a real gem!! The food was good and so we're the drinks!! Give it a try. The three cheese fondues we had amongst our group of 6 all tasted very similar which was a little disappointing and I would have enjoyed a wider array of vegetables to dip but other than that it was great.
We nearly didn't get the milk chocolate fondue for dessert we also had the white chocolate and I'm glad we did as it was my favorite item. I also really liked the drinks selection. I had the mango moscato and there were a couple of cocktails I liked the look of which is unusual for me since I prefer sweet fruity drinks and those don't seem to be in vogue at the moment.
