Just find another part time gig, get a few more clients or take advantage of the extra free time to do a course and improve your skills even more. When I had been in Tokyo and saw the incredible opportunities here, I knew I had to make a change for my future and my bank balance.
You can do it too, but bear in mind that this is not for the faint of heart. This teaches me skills that are incredibly valuable in the global economy, and if you are ready, willing and able, you can do it too.
Please double check this with immigration for whatever work you want to do. In some prefectures they expect you to have a full-time job but in others they allow you to part-time it at a bunch of places as long as you are making enough money to pay your bills.
